It's good to have goals

Now that Christmas is over (though the tree is still staring at me, begging to be put away), I'm on to the next thing: New Years. Specifically, all those fancy schmancy resolutions to make me a saint hero slightly improved person in the coming year.

I'll save the specifics except to mention that I've noticed I've been long-winded and rambly lately. The first one I promise to work on. The second I could promise but it would be setting myself up for failure.

So today, I'm chilling, reading other blogs and figuring out my plans for world domination in 2009. It's nice to have a day where the ideas are coming faster than I can keep track of them. Now, to figure out which are meant to be pursued and which are meant to be left for another time.

You know, I am suffering from the opposite affliction; an empty mind right now. I think my brain is on strike from being abused over the past few months. Of course, time to blog, nothing to write, right?

I should be thinking about resolutions instead ...

Lyndsay - my problem is that I have a lot of ideas and not a whole lot of follow-through at times. Your brain definitely deserves a break so go ahead and give it one. It sounds like you'll be abusing it again soon enough after the start of the year.

Angie - it's a good time to take a blogging break. Blame the holidays!

Oh, you had to start talking about follow-through, didn't you? That is pretty much why I am NOT writing about resolutions on my blog today.

It's also why I haven't decided what to blog about today. I have about 15 "started" posts in my head. Hmmm. So, I guess it isn't empty, just incomplete :)

Lyndsay - You don't want to see my Google Docs. At last count I had 26 partially completed docs in the "writing" category. Which is only made worse by the fact that about 5 of those are just lists of ideas and titles, not even individual posts. I keep telling myself "someday, that one will work itself out, just not today".

I definitely have to sift through the resolutions this year. I hate making the ones that I can't possibly keep.

Wife O Riley - I failed gloriously last year on 4 out of 5 of my main resolutions. As in, not even a BIT of progress, let alone full accomplishment. That's why I'm starting the sifting now.

I'm not sure what 2009 will bring me re: resolutions, but it will be a year of organization and simplifying. I started by reducing my personal email inbox from 19 pages to 1.5! Woo hoo!

And I must ask, what blog have you been catching up on? Do you have one you need to share? :)

Okay, I think I'm losing my mind. I swore your post today said you were catching up on archives of one of your favorite blogs, but after I posted that last comment, I couldn't find it.

That is it. I've totally lost my mind ...

Lydsay - I twittered it so you might've glimpsed it in the sidebar. I actually managed to read through archives for both you AND C. Beth today.

Lyndsay said...

Probably not a good sign that we've managed to carry on a "comments" conversation, huh?

I must have been the Twitter. Good to know I'm not really losing it (this time).

I thought you had a great new blog for me. I've read C.Beth since she started (she's a cyber-friend of mine) and (blush) obviously mine. Can't believe you read all of my archives though, LOL!

Call Me Cate said...

Eh, conversations in comments are still comments!!! :) Sorry, nothing new and exciting. I'm late to the game so I'm still catching up. Plus, it's been a very slow day.

Lyndsay said...

Glad to know it takes a slow day to read my archives, LOL. Actually, it is probably ridiculous, but my archives are better than what I've had going on (post-wise) lately. Lame. Lame. Lame.

I'm working on a post now - grrr!

Call Me Cate said...

So you probably wouldn't believe that it's been on my "to do" list for awhile to catch up on archives and I was actually quite glad to have the chance? As opposed to being completely bored out of my bloody mind and the alternative being to watch paint dry? And that I was quite amused the whole time?

Hey, you know, when you can mark something off your to-do list, it's an accomplishment. I'm just sitting here an my father-in-law and his crazy wife's, being totally RUDE and "working" on my computer right now.

So, did you learn anything in my archives? Are we old pals now? :)

If my name was Paris Hilton, you'd be my new BFF. Only, the BFF you never asked for, that's maybe stalking you. No, stalking takes way more effort than I'm willing to spend on anyone besides Simon Baker. I'm just trying to figure out still where I'm going with this and it's interesting to see how other people have gone through the process before me. It makes me feel like I should have several more months of posts for people to read because now I *do* feel a bit like a stalker. And I'm totally not.

Lyndsay said...

Oh, I totally caught you stalker-Cate, LOL. You can be Paris and I'll be your blogger BFF. Oh wait, Paris probably wouldn't have a blogger-BFF, would she?

You know, I am still trying to figure out where I am going with this whole blog thing too. It has all just sort of evolved on its own. Only recently have I branched out by communicating with other bloggers. I've primarily wrote and let others read. Not in a million years did I ever envision anyone reading my stuff *shoulder shrug*

It's been fun though. I'll let you by my pseudo-stalker. In fact, I think we are quite alike and I likely write about some of the personal afflictions I have (similar to yours) if I didn't have a plethora of people I know reading my blog.

Call Me Cate said...

That's part of my New Years Resolutions - figuring out where I'd like to go with this (or some other projects) and making some plans. Communicating with others and seeing their paths has been really eye-opening.

I still find it odd how by "hiding" I'm also so much more "showing" and free to be me in this blog. Never in a million years could I write about any of the stuff I do in my "real me" blog. That one is somehow much more a carefully worded show. Only my husband and a small handful of internet friends read this outside of the newer folks like yourself.

You know, I'm still much more open on my blog than I am with people IRL, even though I know many of them are reading it. I'd love to really feel like I could write totally open though.

Well, I am excited for 2009 and to see where this new blog takes you.

Please tell me you are at least enjoying some red wine while you are sitting home this Saturday watching paint dry!

Call Me Cate said...

Red wine with dinner and then a movie (Hollywoodland) that was actually a lot like watching paint dry.
